Bengaluru, Aug 17: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has assured that he will not cancel pro-people schemes at any cost.
The CM in his tweet stated that the government has no proposal to cancel schemes such as Annabhagya. “Necessary amount is released and files are signed,” he said.
Former chief minister Siddaramaiah had warned of protests, if the current BJP government discontinues schemes introduced when he was the CM.
Earlier during the day, Siddaramaiah had addressed a news conference and said he had implemented Annabhagya scheme, for the benefit of 4 crore poor people.
“The BJP government has discussed about reducing the quantity of rice from seven kgs and use the remaining amount in Krishi Samman scheme. We are not against the government paying Rs 4,000 under Krishi Samman scheme. But reducing the amount of rice allotted for the poor is an anti-people initiative,” he said.
“I had assured 10 kgs rice, if I came back to power. Quality food should be made available in Indira canteens at the cost of government. More Indira canteens are required in other districts besides Bengaluru. BBMP says that government cannot pay for Indira canteens. The state government should ensure that the popular schemes are not discontinued. There can be revolts by the poor if the current government discontinues schemes implemented by our government,” he had said.
