Kundapur, Aug 17: A little over four years after its inauguration, the roof of mini Vidhana Soudha in Kundapur peeled off, injuring one.

The incident took place on Saturday, August 17 at around 11 am. The roof of the staff office of Kundapur sub-divisional officer, located on the first floor of the building came crashing down on the people working below.

Narayana Billava, a retired employee of Varahi project sustained severe injuries on his head, hands and legs and was rushed to the hospital. Another government employee Balakrishna who was working nearby managed to escape unhurt.

Cracks were seen on the walls of mini Vidhana Soudha even before its inauguration. Newspapers and media had highlighted the inferior quality of work and the Vidhana Soudha was opened on February 7, 2015 after some patchwork.

Locals had urged the officials to look into the inferior construction but they continued to remain indifferent.

Within a year of construction, wide cracks appeared. In the second year, rain water started seeping. Now the collapse of the roof has created anxiety among the government employees. They fear to sit inside the building now.

Blue colour in slab??? Hope these jokers have removed the polyurethane sheets before plastering the ceiling. If not then this is a gross mismanagement by the department and the contractor. Sad story is we talk of non performing ministers and crucify them on social media which is good. Well it's high time these govt employees who fool around with public money be taken to task. Having worked for various companies as a engineer on govt projects I will easily say that more than 90% of the technical people in various departments are incapable of doing any justice to Thier chair. They are only in it for the money.

Super.Arrest immediately the Inginiuer or contractor.First of all thank God only one or two seriously injured.but no other casualties.Usually how long is garantie in India for a building like this?Seriously ,does anyone come to prove after completion of the building ?or left themselves? Now who will pay for this to repair?Or better proove properly before again it cracks.Dangerous situation.Rain water was leaking and through crack on the roof must have caused this.Roof is now to be checked and repaired.

    Mr. Nash,
for your kind information the mini Vidhan Soudha at Kundapur was sanctioned during regime of Mr. Yediyurappa as chief minister in2008 , by the efforts of Local MLA Mr. Halady Srinivas shetty. Please check who was given contract and quality of construction. That time is BJP's golden rule. Please verify with news published in Daijiworld on Friday Jun 27 2008. Now again Yediyurappa is CM, you can ask questions.
