Udupi, Aug 16: Udupi Sode Math has decided to adopt a village that was devastated after Bedthi River overflowed due to heavy rains last week. The Math wants to rebuild the village.
Head of Sode Math, Sri Vishwa Vallabha Theertha Swamiji, has expressed the desire to come to the rescue of the village. Kumbri village near Somanalli within Kampli gram panchayat limits in Yallapur taluk of Uttara Kannada district is home to six Kunabi families. These families have lost everything including their homes and things inside their homes and therefore the villagers have been orphaned and have been virtually driven to streets.
Administrative officer of the Math, Manikya Upadhyaya, said that the Swamiji, who is currently observing Chaturmasya Vratha, has instructed the Math staff to adopt all the six families and see that they get everything that is necessary for a comfortable living.
The Swamiji said that this decision is taken as he feels it is his duty to help those who are facing a crisis. He said he has taken a decision to provide permanent relief to the villagers instead of extending temporary help.
