Mangaluru, Aug 16: On Thursday August 15, the coastal districts received good rains.
The city experienced good rains in the morning and afternoon. Many other places in the district like Dharmasthala, Puttur, Sullia, Bantwal and Ullal too got good rain. Places like Kollur, Kundapur, Karkala and Padubidri in Udupi districts got torrential rains.
Agumbe received 21 cm of rain, the highest in the state, during the 24 hours ended 8.30 am on Thursday. Coastal areas, many places in south interior Karnataka and some places in north interior Karnataka also got good rains. Karwar received 17 cm rain, Kundapur and Siddapur got 11 cm, Kollur 10, Beltangady and Kota got 9 cm while Mangaluru received six cm rainfall during this period.
There was respite from sea erosion at the seashores of Ullal, Someshwara Uchila, Battappady, Hilleria Nagar, Kaiko,Mukkahceri etc. Malpe seashore experienced strong wind in the morning. In the evening, the sea became calm.
The meteorological department has predicted good rainfall in coastal areas of other parts of the state for the next three days.
