Bantwal, Jun 20: Relating to the disinterring of a man's body on Thursday June 19 from beneath soil near Kadumutt bridge in Vittal, the policemen claim to have made remarkable progress in the investigation. The Vittal policemen have arrested a man, who is thought to be the chief conspirator of the murder of Shekhar Bhandary.
The arrested person has been identified as Krishnappa Poojary (35) from Padekeri in Kolnad village. It is rumoured, that a rickshaw driver from Mangalore had helped Poojary to kill Bhandary. Poojary had come close to Bhandary, who hitherto was roaming alone and sleeping on a roadside shelter, since about a month, after the former came to know that Shekhar had received over eight lac rupees being share in the sale of property belonging to his family. This money was deposited in a cooperative bank.
Locals say that Krishnappa used to be with Shekhar since about a month. It is said, a sum of four lac rupees was drawn from Bhandary's account on the fourth of this month and Krishappa had cleared loans totalling to about Rs 2.5 lac after that. The policemen are concentrating on where the money received by Shekhar Bhandary was kept and whether it was withdrawn and if so, how?
