Dubai, Aug 14: In a horrifying turn of events, over 950 traffic accidents were reported since the beginning of Eid Al Adha until Tuesday midnight, as per reports provided by Command and Control Centre of the Dubai Police.
According to Colonel Turki bin Fares, director of the centre, there were violations of several traffic rules from speeding, tailgating, sudden change of lanes, unfocused driving which ended up being the main cause of accidents.
Fares advised drivers to be aware while driving and strictly follow the traffic rules to avert fatal outcome. He also stated that there were around 28,603 calls made to the police's emergency hotline 999.
Fares reminded the public to call 999 only for emergencies and not to confuse it with the number 901 which is for general inquiries.
