Bantwal, Aug 14: A flood victim has lodged a police complaint in the town police station here against B Mooda village accountant (VA), accusing the official of using derogatory language against and deriding him for failing to 'host' him properly and not providing drinks in return for surveying 14 flood-affected houses.
The above complaint has been lodged by a flood victim, Latif B C, a resident of Talapady in the taluk. He stated in the complaint that his house and houses of neigbours in the vicinity were inundated due to torrential rains. “The village accountant and his staff arrived at my residence on August 12 at about 11.30 am for surveying the destruction due to floods in Talapady village. They filled in the application forms and got them signed for disbursement of compensation. But later I got a telephone call in the name of village accountant from telephone number 8618461060 at about 10.15 pm that night. The caller said that he had not been properly ‘entertained’ by me for surveying 14 houses affected by floods. I was also blamed for not having the courtesy to offer even drinks to the visitors. They also charged me of being arrogant," Latif said in the complaint.
“As I got confused, I telephoned that number. But the call was rejected. My house is in shambles due to floods. I have not even cleaned up the house. My family and I were staying in the house of relatives and celebrated Bakrid festival there. How can I entertain the village accountant? I am depressed due to the misery heaped on me by the floods. Therefore, I request you to investigate the incident and provide justice to me,” he urged in the complaint.
A case in the connection stands registered in the town police station here. Investigations have continued.
