Bengaluru, Aug 13: In a heart-rending incident which happened in a house near Srinagar bus stand in the city, a woman, who was fed up by the unending harassment at the hands of her husband, killed her two daughters and then hanged herself.
The people who lost their lives in this incident were Rajeshwari (43), Manasa (17) and Bhomika (15), residents of Kalappa Extension in Srinagar here.
Rajeshwari, who was a native of Mandya district, was a housewife, while her husband, Siddaiah, worked as security guard for Karnataka Electricity Board. The family was living in the city since many years. Manasa was a first PU student while Boomika was in SSLC.
The couple often fought on issues which can be termed as family disputes, it is said. Siddaiah, after one such bout of fight with wife, had left for his hometown. He had tried to make a telephonic call to his wife on Sunday from his village. As she did not respond to the call, he called his relatives in the city and asked them to check why his wife was not picking the phone. The relatives went to his house, and saw that the door was locked from inside. They peeped from the window and found that bodies of all the three ladies of the family were hanging.
They immediately informed the neighbours and the police. Hanumanthanagar police arrived on the spot and took up the case.
In a WhatsApp status Rajeshwari and Manasa left behind before ending their lives, said that Siddaiah was the sole reason for all their problems. "Everyone needs to have a good father. But our father destroyed our lives," Manasa stated. It is said that Siddaiah did not visit his wife on Varamahalaxmi festival celebrated on Friday August 9 and she had got to know that he had left on a tour in the company of a lady. This had disturbed her still more.
The police have come to know that Siddaiah is on a tour of Tamil Nadu. The police are searching for him.
