Hubballi, Aug 11: Dinesh Gundu Rao, president of KPCC, has accused the state administration of failing completely to tackle the deluge situation in the state.

Dinesh Gundu Rao was speaking to the press at the airport here, after he visited the rain-affected areas of Dharwad district on Saturday, August 10. Dinesh said that the government needs ministers in order to run the administration in situation like flood and natural calamities. Depending completely on the officials is not correct.

"Chief minister of the state B S Yediyurappa is not a superman. He cannot be present at all the affected areas of the state. He needs ministers in his cabinet to assist him so that people of the state get some relief. Already 15 days have elapsed since Yediyurappa took oath as the CM of the state and the state cabinet is not yet formed. I do not know the reason for the delay," lamented Gundu Rao.

Dinesh Gundu Rao suspected that the BJP might be working out ways to pacify the disqualified MLAs, who indirectly helped them to gain the power from the coalition government.

The KPCC president said, "Central government has not announced any relief so far for the victims of the flood-affected areas of the state of Karnataka. None of the representatives of the central government have visited the state to assess the situation." However, Prahlad Joshi and Suresh Angadi, central ministers had paid visit to the flood-affected areas of Dharwad district. In addition, union finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman is also on a two-day visit to the state to oversee the flood situation.

Lauding former PM Manmohan Singh of efficiently handling the 2009 flood situation that occurred in north Karnataka, Dinesh Gundu Rao said, "The then prime minister of the country Manmohan Singh had visited the flood affects parts of the state within three days and had announced a relief package of Rs 1,600 crore to take up the relief work." Dinesh urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a tour of the flood-affected areas of the state and release a grant of at least Rs 5,000 crore.

Rao said that the Congress party workers are doing a great job in reaching out to the flood-affected victims. He also said that the opposition is doing far better work than the BJP government, which has totally failed in managing the situation.
