Mangaluru, Aug 10: As many as eight ABVP activists were detained by police who raised slogans against Kanhaiya Kumar, leader of the All-India Students’ Federation, on Saturday, August 10.
Kanhaiya is in Mangaluru to attend a two-day B V Kakkilaya centenary programme at Bishop Jatthana auditorium in Balmatta, from August 10 in memory of the late freedom fighter and the Communist Party of India leader.
The ABVP members were seated in audience before the Kanhaiya started his speech. Police took them outside. Nearly 20 to 25 members from ABVP, Sri Rama Sene and Hindu Jagarana Vedike, gathered outside the hall and raised slogans against Kanhaiya. All of them were detained.
Kanhaiya will speak on the topic ‘Indian youth at cross roads’ at the programme.
