Mangaluru, Aug 9:The much-awaited Konkani movie ‘Kantaar’, starring Ester Noronha and Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff was released in Mangaluru and Udupi theaters on Friday, August 9.
The film produced by Janet Noronha, directed by Nilesh Malkar, also stars Noel Sean and several other Goan artistes. Nightingale Lorna has acted for the first time as a playback singer on the silver screen. The movie is running successfully with houseful shows all over Goa.
Many well-known personalities of Coastal film industry and Sandalwood graced the Mangaluru –Udupi release, which was scheduled at Cinepolis, Mangaluru and Inox, Manipal. ‘Kantaar’ is the second project of Janet Noronha.
After the show, many praised the characterization, superb script and mature direction. “Kantaar is rich in its production and direction. The story filled with rhythmic flow, makes the audience remain glued to their seats. The sceneries shown in the movie are mind-blowing and we have to thank the cameraman for the wonderful captures. It is a great and well planned movie in Konkani,” said John Mascarenhas, who watched the first day first show.
Kantaar is a musical journey of a young girl Angelica, who discovers the philosophy of life through a senior citizen Jordan, who knows the truths and secrets of living a beautiful life.
In the first half itself, audiences feel that director Nilesh Malkar tried to show that everyone on this earth is there for a reason. Everyone has a purpose in life and at the end, God’s plans always work, the movie shows. Kantaar is a musical and the director has received praises for inserting songs in right places of the story, making the entire plot rich and more meaningful.
Kantaar is Ester Noronha’s third full-fledged Konkani movie and she has won the hearts of audiences with her acting. As a trained singer, she has given justice to her character Angelica, who is a singer in the movie. Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, plays a prominent role and with his signature moves and refined acting, he has made his character memorable. Noel Sean who plays an important role has received appreciation from the audience.
Along with content, Kantaar is a technically sound movie and has a mixture of well-known artistes and new faces. The movie has been shot at some unexplored film locations of Goa like the interior villages of Benaulim, Colva Rachol and South Goa.
