Bangalore, Jun 17: The high court on Tuesday asked the B S Yeddyurappa-led government to give reasons on why it's not registering English medium schools.
This, even after the Supreme Court had not given any stay order relating to a full Bench order, which quashed the 1994 state language policy.
"You say there is no stay order. Then why can't you follow it (Supreme Court judgement)?" the court asked the government before adjourning the hearing on a contempt petition filed by many institutes.
"You can register the schools by issuing a rider that registrations are subject to the final decision of the Supreme Court in the special leave petition filed by the state," the court said.
