Kaup, Aug 7: In a massive rescue operation, police identified five trucks with the help of locals in which cattle were ferried illegally. The police personnel seized the trucks near Kaup on Wednesday, August 7.
The cattle were being transported from Kerala to Udupi. Kaup police intercepted the trucks in front of Kaup mosque and took into custody more than 60 cattle from it.
Hindu organization activists and hundreds of other people gathered in front of Kaup police station as the news spread.
Kaup police registered cases under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Violation of Motor Vehicles Act and also against illegal transport of cattle.
