Kundapur, Aug 6: The Kundapur region is bearing the brunt of the heavy downpour with high speed winds that is lashing since the past two days. The rain, which gave respite in between, is pounding with more intensity causing anxious moments to people living on the banks of water bodies. 

Sauparnika River is overflowing due to the continuous rain. This has flooded areas of Nadubettu of Maravanthe village, Moodushale, Chikkahalli of Nada village, Konki, Kadke, Attikone of Padukone village, Hadavu, Sendapura, Badakere of Navunda village and Arehole. Many houses are inundated. Residents are desperate for help. The open bridges of connecting road of Padukone are submerged in water. The commuters are facing severe hurdles as the road connection is totally cut off. The service roads on the highway have turned into ponds. Herikudru area of the taluk is badly affected due to the flood. 

Konkan railway route is also facing danger due to the heavy rains. Due to water logging on railway track near Kedoor the trains are stopped. If the rains continue to batter on the night of Tuesday also, the people of the coastal region will be in grave danger for sure.
