Government proposes amount of Rs 3.5 crore for renovating panchayat ghars

Porvorim, Aug 6: Over Rs 3.5 crore worth grant has been tabled by government for the repair works of specific panchayat ghars. According to panchayat minister Mauvin Godinho, the amount of Rs 3 crore will be used towards construction of panchayat ghars and the remaining amount of Rs 50 lac will be used towards maintenance of the buildings.

The amount of Rs 3 crore has been increased from the initial amount of Rs 2 crore, eligible under Deendayal Panchayat Infrastructure Development Scheme. The scheme directs the said amount towards the construction, renovation of panchayat ghars.

Further, Godinho also claimed that government plans to have 51 new panchayat ghar buildings ready within the next two years.
