Mangaluru, Aug 5: Young Students' Movement (YCS/YSM) Mangalore Diocese marked the significance of communal harmony by organizing 'Bandhutva -2019', an inter-religious summit on Saturday, August 3.
The true essence of peace and harmony was tasted by the students of various educational institutions at this programme that was held at the Golden Jubilee Memorial Church Hall, Valencia.
The programme began on a devotional note with a prayer song sung by the students followed by a warm welcome dance. The bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, president of the programme along with the chief guests Brahmakumari Vishweshwari, centre in-charge of Brahmakumaris Mangaluru and Rafiuddin Kudroli, Khateeb Nimrah Masjid, Mukkecheri Ullal, president UNIWEF Karnataka, founder MDC Mangaluru inaugurated by lighting the lamp. YSM Diocesan president Rovita D’Souza welcomed the gathering.
Fr Rupesh Madtha, diocesan director of YSM Mangaluru explained the significance of 'Bandhutva-2019'. The guests of honour Brahmakumari Vishweshwari and Rafiuddin Kudroli, gave out their amazing messages on spirituality and the significance of communal harmony. Later Dr Peter Paul Saldanha delivered the presidential address.
The programme patrons Fr James D”Souza, parish priest of Valencia Church, Renzil D’Souza Permannur and Medeline School Mulky were honoured for their generous contribution. Vinisha D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks.
The formal programme was followed by cultural programme where students from different schools performed on the theme of 'Bandutva'. A short movie 'My Choice My Peace' by Fr Nelson Almeida depicting the theme was screened. The Programme concluded with lunch.
A total of 600 students participated in this event. Diocesan YCS Animator Prajwal Sequeira Derebail, diocesan YCS coordinator Mervin J Vas Ferar, YSM Mangaluru chief animator Sunitha Crasta, YSM secretary Ayush Roa, council members Joswita, Hemanth, Deeksha, Ashvia, Deona, Einstein, Nevil and Rishanth were present.
