Dubai, Aug 1: Five Pakistani men, who impersonated as police officers and hijacked a vehicle with a 11-year-old Indian boy and his driver in it, were sentenced to three years in prison on Wednesday by a Dubai court. The hijackers installed a security siren on their car to give an impression that they are police personnel and they fled with the stolen car after dropping off the boy and the driver.

The Dubai court of First Instance found the Pakistani men including two runaways, aged between 25 and 41, guilty on charges of kidnapping, robbery, impersonation of police officers and putting the life of a minor at risk. The court has ordered these five convicts to be deported after they serve their prison sentence.

The public prosecution records showed that the accused intercepted the victims' vehicle, as it was heading towards the Silicon Oasis on October 28, last year. A case was registered at the Lahbab police station. The police said they tracked down the suspects based on fingerprints taken from the SUV they were driving, when they kidnapped the boy and took over the farm's vehicle.

Public prosecution records showed the accused's car had a siren used only by security forces. The defendants made the vehicle's driver pull over and took over it. As reported in Khaleej Times, the schoolboy told the public prosecution investigator that the driver of the farm's vehicle was transporting him to school in the Silicon Oasis at 7.45 am. "The driver was made to stop after he passed by the defendants' car. Two sat next to me and one took control of the steering wheel. They drove for about 200 meter before letting us leave. The driver, who was taking me to school, then called the police," said the boy.
