Mangaluru, Jul 30: With Yeddyurappa winning the trust vote, expectations are running high about who would be picked as ministers. As per current calculations, the chances of the coastal districts bagging two posts in the ministry and the post of the state BJP president are bright.
Party sources revealed that a list of probables is already under preparation and the list would be released after getting the stamp of approval from national president of the party, Amit Shah. The party leadership is facing the challenge of ensuring that all regions and castes get justifiable share in the new ministry. Karnataka can have a ministry with 34 members including the chief minister.
Nalin Kumar Kateel , Angara and V Sunil Kumar
Calculations are under way about chances of veteran legislator from Sullia, Angara, getting a berth in the new ministry. It is said that all other legislators agree that he deserves the post more than anyone else. Names of Kota Srinivas Poojary, Halady Srinivas Shetty and Sunil Kumar from Udupi district are also in the forefront. Some also expect Raghupati Bhat to be chosen as minister.
As Yeddyurappa has become chief minister, as per the party's principles, a new state president of the party will have to be chosen. Names of MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, and Karkala MLA, V Sunil Kumar, are making the rounds.
In 2013, when the Congress formed the government, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi had elected 11 Congress legislators out of 13 seats. As such, Dakshina Kannada had got three ministerial berths and Udupi one. This time, although Congress won only one seat in these two districts, the lone legislator was given the ministerial position. Both Lok Sabha seats have gone to BJP. Therefore, whether these districts will get proper representations, or whether seats will be deprived to districts because of compulsion to earmark ministerial posts for the rebels who are likely to support the BJP if they get favourable court verdict, will remain a mystery till the ministerial positions are filled.
