Bengaluru, Jul 29: Now that BJP has formed government in Karnataka, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee is yet to announce the leader of opposition.
While it is believed that leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Siddaramaiah, who was also the former chief minister, will be given the post, Congress leader D K Shivakumar is another possible contender.
“I have not applied for the post. However, if the party elects me, I am ready to fulfill my duties as a opposition leader in the Assembly,” Shivakumar told reporters at Vidhana Soudha on Monday.
Shivakumar also stressed on the need to explore legally on how BS Yediyurappa formed the government in spite of not enjoying the simple majority.
The former Karnataka water resources minister claimed that the rebel MLAs who were lured by BJP with promises of positions in cabinet are now abandoned.
