Mangaluru, Jul 29: In pursuance of stricter posture acquired by the police department against those causing traffic problems by way of parking vehicles haphazardly and in no parking zones, the traffic police have registered a case against a convention centre in the city. The case was registered in the city (west) traffic police station on Sunday, July 28.
The case was registered under section 283 of Indian Penal Code relating to blocking of traffic. Owner and manager of Dr T M A Pai Convention Centre at Kodialbail here as well as organizers of the function in the said hall have been booked. They have been charged with creating bottlenecks in the traffic on the road opposite the hall by way of parking of about 25 vehicles on both the sides of the said road.
The police said that the parked vehicles not only occupied footpaths on both sides of the road which caused inconvenience to the general public but also functioned as hindrance in the movement of movement emergency vehicles.
