Panaji, Jul 27: From September, Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) is expected to implement parking charges of Rs 25 to park four-wheelers for two hours on two key roads, said mayor Uday Madkaikar on Thursday. The plan will be implemented on Atmaram Borkar Road and 18th June Road. For every additional hour, motorists will have to shell out Rs 15, Madkaikar added.

The mayor said, "As of now, two-wheelers will not be charged parking fee as CCP wants to disincentivise cars and encourage two-wheelers. Madkaikar told reporters that the local urban body is waiting for the directorate of municipal administration (DMA) to approve the pay parking rates.

“Illegal parking and traffic indiscipline have made traffic in Panaji a mess and we want to streamline it. We are waiting for permission from DMA for pay-parking rates and then in two to three days we will issue a tender for the pay-parking contract,” Madkaikar said.
