The tanker in question was plying towards Belgaum from Mangalore, while the empty tanker was moving to Mangalore. Owing to the impact of the collision, the fully loaded tanker skidded-off and rolled over to the paddy field nearby.
The locals were shaken out of their sleep by the huge sound created by the accident that occurred at around 3.45 am. The tanker that fell into the fields was carrying 35 tonnes of LPG.
