Abu Dhabi, Jul 20: The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has launched a new bio-security website for public to report any concerns related to animal cruelty. The website is divided into three sections; food safety notifications, animal development and health notifications and agricultural development notifications. With the newly launched website, the ministry expects to tackle any issues raised as timely and effectively as possible.

The bio-security website also allows residents to report incidents related to infectious animal diseases, breach of welfare laws including cruelty and illegal possession of dangerous animals. It will also respond to complaints of veterinary facilities offering poor services and care. A food safety category will allow anyone to report unsafe products found to be contaminated, unhygienic, non-halal or products sold on expired dates.

Assistant undersecretary for the ministry’s sustainable communities sector, Saif Al Shara said, “The user-friendly, bilingual platform engages the public in our endeavors to keep pathogens at bay. Implementing a unified process for reporting environmental threats on a national scale will help us remain vigilant and highly responsive.” he added.

The officials, related to the project, said residents are encouraged to report any breaches of animal welfare laws such as cruelty and illegal possession of dangerous animals, as well as improper veterinary care, including products used that are out of date, contaminated, unhygienic or non-halal.
