Dubai, Jul 16: The Indian consulate here, has warned students who wish to pursue their higher studies in offshore campuses of Indian universities, that they should be careful before enrolling themselves.
The consulate through a tweet, urged Indian students to verify the universities that claim to be affiliated to the Indian government and private educational institutions. "Indian students intending to pursue their graduate studies in Dubai and the Northern Emirates in the offshore campus of Indian universities should ensure that the university or the college is duly recognized by the University Grants Commission, India," tweeted the Indian consulate.
As reported in Khaleej Times, the acting consul-general and consul for press, information and culture Neeraj Agarwal, told the publication that the students need to check if the universities are affiliated to the University Grants Commission of India. “We are following a standard procedure and students are encouraged to get in touch with the consulate if they have any doubts regarding the universities," he said.
The consulate further tweeted, 'Indian students intending to pursue graduation in Dubai and northern Emirates should ensure that the institute is approved by local authorities as well. The list of approved universities may be checked on UAE's Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) as well."
The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India in February through a circular had listed a total of 23 fake universities stating that none of these are allowed to award any undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

10) Raja Arabic University, Nagpur, Maharashtra
11) Indian Institute of Alternative Medicine, Kolkata
12) Institute of Alternative Medicine and Research, Kolkata
13) Varanaseya Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi (UP)
