Mumbai: Autorickshaw unions call off strike

Mumbai, Jul 9: Autorickshaw unions called off their state wide strike late night on Monday. Over 2 Million auto drivers were supposed to go on strike from midnight on Monday demanding ban on services of Uber and Ola, police crackdown on illegal autos on roads and hike in fares.

The strike was called off by the autorickshaw union after chief minister Devendra Fadnavis intervened into the matter. Union leader Shashank Rao said that the chief minister has called a meeting on Tuesday to discuss and solve the pending issues faced by auto drivers in Maharashtra. The state transport minister Diwakar Raote will also be present at the meeting which is scheduled for 3PM on Tuesday.
