Panaji, Jul 2: A woman named Vinda Gaonkar was shot in the head with an air gun by a man here on Sunday. The accused, identified as Amit Govekar is absconding said Porvorim police.
As per TOI report, the accused had lent money to the victim after taking her gold bangle as collateral. After repaying the loan amount, Vinda approached Govekar and asked him to return her bangle. However, Govekar was not ready to return the bangle and this led to a heated exchange of words between the two, following which Govekar shot Vinda in the head.
Porvorim PI, Vishwesh Karpe told TOI that Vinda Gaonkar is being treated at Goa Medical College. Police have registered a case against Govekar under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and Arms Act.
