Mangaluru, Jul 1: The video containing sex act between a man and a girl which had become viral has now got a new twist. The police, during their questioning, have found that it was a part of a racket involved with coercing people to part with money through honeytrap.
The police had on Sunday June 30, arrested a person from Bantwal on the charge of spreading a video containing a man in intimate moments with a girl through social website. The arrested man has been identified as Monu alias Abdul Rahiman (55) from Tipu Nagar in Bantwal. Bantwal town police had taken him into custody.
The police have now unearthed the reality behind this video. The police said that this video forms part of a racket that is involved with creating video with obscene content through honeytrap methods and then threatening the concerned to stream the video through social websites if the concerned fails to part with money.
Monu alias Abdul Rahiman had become a victim of honeytrap. Monu had come in contact with a girl through voice message about eight months back. After a few days since he came to know the girl, Monu had met her in a lodge in the city. The two had developed physical relationship on this occasion. The girl had recorded the proceedings through her cellphone.
A few days after this incident, an unidentified person contacted Monu over phone. He forwarded the said video to Monu and placed demand for payment of money. When Monu questioned the girl about it, she said she had given her cellphone for repairs and someone accessed the video during this period. The person who had the video continued to call Monu repeatedly demanding money. As Monu refused to budge, four persons abducted him in Bantwal, and forcibly took away Rs 60,000 in cash and his purse. They also used his ATM card and withdrew Rs 9,000. It is said that later in the day, they again forcibly collected Rs 48,000 from Monu.
The complainant said that the people concerned have shared the video in social website and have continued to demand money from him. Bantwal police have registered a case under different sections of Indian Penal Code.
