Mangaluru, Jul 1: Konkani Writers’ Association, Karnataka, a literary organization of Konkani writers organised a seminar on the role of criticism in literature at Don Bosco Hall, Mangalore on Sunday, June 30.
Eminent scholar, Fr Dr Melwyn Pinto, director of Konkani Institute, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, was the resource person. He dealt with the various theories of literary criticism. He explained how the writer becomes indistinct once the literary piece is in the hands of the critics.
Vally Vogga, senior Konkani writer conducted the deliberations where several writers participated in the discussions.

Dr Edward Nazareth, one of the members of the steering committee of the Konkani Writers’ Association welcomed the gathering. Richard Moras, chief convener of the steering committee felicitated Fr Dr Melwyn Pinto. Lavi, Ganjimatt, rendered the vote of thanks. Donald Periera compeered the programme.
Dolphy Cassia, Cyril G Sequiera (CGS, Thaccode), Edwin J F D’souza, Naveen, Kulshekar, Edie Netto, J F D’Souza, Paul Moras, Dr Jerald Pinto (Jerry, Niddodi) and several other eminent Konkani writers were present.
