Abhu Dhabi, Jul 1: Officials will bring a fine of Dh 3,000 into force from Monday July 1. It is imposed on vehicles who restrict emergency and police vehicles from passing through.

Further, the vehicles will be impounded for 30 days with six traffic points. To manage this effectively, there will be cameras on emergency vehicles and the feed would be linked to the command room. This would help in apprehending those who are found not abiding by the rules.

Earlier in June, the ministry of Interior already hinted on implementation of a new fine amount for law breakers. The fine was increased from Dh 1,000 to Dh 3,000 along with the respective vehicle getting impounded. In a tweet on their official twitter handle, the ministry of Interior said, “The fine for not giving way to emergency vehicles will be revised to AED 3,000 and 30 days confiscation of the vehicle starting July 1.”

Police officials also warned motorists to not cause obstruction to the emergency vehicles which are called in during an accident. The Abu Dhabi police conveyed the imperative message concerning safety in seven different languages, to function more effectively and efficiently.
