Mumbai, Jun 28: After the onset of the south-west monsoon, Mumbaikars receive moderate to heavy rain on Friday. Water logging and flooding in low lying areas across the city and heavy traffic congestion on roads are being reported.
A senior civic official told news agency PTI that the city has recorded moderate rainfall in the last few hours. “So far, no untoward incidents or major waterlogging has been reported at the Disaster Management Cell,” said the official. IMD Santa Cruz observatory recorded an average rainfall of 135.6mm in the area from 8.30am-2.30 pm on Friday.
Lots of commuters were left stranded on the roads due to heavy traffic in Western Highway, which connects the suburbs to the main city. In Maharashtra's Nashik district too, heavy rains have disrupted normal life.
