Old Goa, Jun 27: Goa Police on Thursday arrested 31-year-old man for raping a minor girl at Cujira village near Panaji.
Mohammed Rafik Patel was arrested after complaint against him was filed by mother of 17-year-old girl on Thursday at Old Goa Police station. The mother alleged that the accused raped her daughter in November last year due to which she has become pregnant.
Old Goa Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi told reporters that the accused had invited the victim at his residence where he had raped her.
Case is registered under section 376 IPC, 8(2) of Goa Children’s Act and Section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said.
The accused was arrested and has been remanded to five days police custody.
