Kasargod, Jun 26: A person, who had been kidnapped by a gang under the directions of his son-in-law and then beaten up, breathed his last due to injuries sustained in the attack at a hospital on Tuesday, June 25.
The unfortunate father-in-law who lost his life in this incident happened to be Altaf (55) from Sonkal, Uppala near Kumble.
It is said that a five-member gang that included Altaf's son-in-law, Shabbir, Riaz and Latif, had abducted Altaf on the night of June 23 from his home in a car. Along with Altaf, Shabir's child had also been kidnapped.
The gang had left the child in the care of a family of relatives. The gang had then attacked Altaf and slashed the vein in his hand. After his condition turned serious, the gang abandoned Altaf in the compound of a hospital before fleeing.
Altaf, whose condition was critical, was referred to another hospital where he was provided treatment. But his life could not be saved.
