Mangaluru Jun 25: As many as 44 projects worth Rs 958.57 crore are taken up under Smart City project and 7 projects worth Rs 912.17 crore are taken up under Public-Private-Partnership (PPP), said Mangaluru Smart City CEO Narayanappa.
Addressing media here on Tuesday, June 25, Narayanappa said," In the year 2015, Smart City guidelines were passed. A proposal was sent to consider Mangaluru under the project. In the first phase, 20 cities were selected and in the second phase Mangaluru was selected. In April 2017, the process and work for Smart City began and 44 projects were placed under Smart City project and 7 projects under PPP.”
“Under the Smart City, several projects were taken up such as roads, bus shelter, clock tower, Kadri Park development and many more,” said Narayanappa.

Work order issued
Total 10 projects worth Rs 106.38 crore, such as Smart Road worth Rs 7.56 crore, UGD 1, UGD 2, UGD 3 worth Rs 17.5 crore, bus shelter 1 and 2 worth Rs 9.4 crore, clock tower worth Rs 0.90 crore, command and control centre 1 worth Rs 38.79 crore, converting government building lights to LED costing Rs 2.23 crore, Karnataka Municipal Data Society project worth Rs 30 crore.
Projects tendered
Total 12 projects worth Rs 326.72 crore such as Smart Roads worth Rs 253.02 crore, UGD 4 worth Rs 25 crore, e-Smart school infrastructure worth Rs 11 crore, swimming pool worth Rs 24.94 crore, Kadri Park development worth Rs 12 crore and Centralized Control Centre building worth Rs 3 crore.
Projects under DPR stage: Total 9 projects worth Rs 161.86 crore such as smart water meter costing Rs 10 crore, e-Smart school ICT costing Rs 5 crore, redevelopment of old bus stand area costing Rs 25 crore, UGD 5 worth Rs 49 crore, skill development and training centre worth Rs 3.30 crore, rejuvenation of lakes worth Rs 2 crore, Kavoor and Gujjarakere lake and Centralized Control Centre phase 2 worth Rs 49 crore.
Projects under concept stage: Total 13 projects worth Rs 363.61 crore such as upgradation of Mangala stadium amounting Rs 10 crore, Wenlock and Lady Goschen hospital 1 and 2 worth Rs 50 crore, development of waterfront Rs 235 crore, urban property ownership record Rs 7 crore, Bolar connection road amounting Rs 7.02 crore, NH 66 connecting road Rs 30 crore, re-development of DC office Rs 30 crore, re-development of Car Street and Venkataramana temple precinct amounting Rs 14.59 crore.
7 PPP projects worth Rs 912.17 crore
An amount of Rs 101.08 crore has been allotted for installation of roof top solar in government buildings and multi-level car parking at Hampankatta.
For re-development of central market and conversion of street lights into LED, Rs 214.35 crore has been tendered.
Rs 596.74 crore has been reserved for two projects under concept stage, such as solar recreational island, integrated transport hub and installation of roof top solar in government buildings.
Narayanappa said for the rejuvenation of lakes such as Gujjarakere and Kavoor, Rs 2 crore has been reserved. For the integrated transport hub under PPP project, place has been identified at Padil and Pumpwell. “As per the Smart City project, once the project is completed, the company maintains the infrastructure for three years and then its handed over to the concerned department,” he added.
