UAE, Jun 25: As part of a comprehensive national cyber security strategy launched by the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA), UAE will soon announce new laws to tackle the escalating threat of cyber crimes.

TRA Director General Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri said around 60 initiatives over a period of the next three years will be introduced to establish safe and resilient cyber infrastructure in the country.

The plan was introduced after seeking advice from over fifty global publications and examining the cyber security systems of over ten leading countries. TRA has identified nine sectors for cyber security preparedness which include telecom, health, utilities, energy and finance.

As per Gulf News, Al Mansoori told the publication, "Who does not worry about the dangers of the internet? The cyberspace provides vast horizons and endless opportunities but at the same time it also provides a gateway for hackers and phishers. It is therefore imperative for us to have a national strategy that takes into account emerging technologies and the risks that come with them."
