Bangalore, May 14: Without elaborating on what he meant, JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda claimed, that his son H D Kumaraswami had met Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday to teach a fitting lesson to the BJP that has been meting out harassment to him. "A look at the war of words between Kuaraswami and BJP leaders since about a month will provide you with ample evidence of what Kumaraswami is going through," he added.
"When the BJP started its 'Operation Kamala' I had pointed out that it was an evil plan and asked the secular parties to come together to end it. But, none of the parties favourably responded to my call," he rued. About the plan to bring down the state government, he said it can not be forced out, even if the BJP gets small number of Lok Sabha seats. Some people from within that party should work to bring it down, he said.
"No one cares about the farmers and common people of the state. The state has seen 28 murders and scores of robberies and thefts in the last about 45 days. Is Karnataka Control of Organized Crimes Act being brought into force to stop them?" he questioned wryly.
Several UPA constituents have distanced themselves from the Congress Party. Even the Biju Janatadal which was a part of the NDA, has come forward to support the Third Front. The Third Front continues to be strong and several smaller parties will join it in the post-election scenario, Gowda claimed. "We will bring pressure on the union government to protect the state's interests besides drafting programmes for the welfare of farmers and poor people. I am not interested in either becoming a king or king maker," he said.
