Puttur, May 11: “Kannada film industry is suffering reverses at present because excessive commercialization. It now resembles stagnated water. It should start flowing again to gain in strength,” commented renowned sandalwood star Prakash Rai, while on a visit to the town for participating in a private programme here recently.
“I have decided to produce a Kannada film before the end of this year and the title of the movie will be announced within two months,” he said.
“Hindi, Telugu and Tamil film industries have wider spectrums and my presence is necessary there. Hence i rarely get time to work for Kannada films”, said Rai.
“Drama and Yakshgana are our media of communication, Cinema is not. But people have accepted films that we have adopted from foreign countries, as our medium. My father is from Dakshina Kannada but I was brought up in Bangalore. But I have an attraction and love for Tulunadu. I also feel an urge to make a Tulu film,” Rai said.
