Mumbai, Jun 17: Karnataka Sangha which is progressing to seventh decade of inception held elections for its president and six posts of executive committee for the period 2019-22.
The elections were held peacefully at Karnataka Sangha premises on T H Kataria marg, Matunga west. 500 members exercised their franchise.
Current president who contested for the post of president again received 355 votes and was declared winner. His opponent Rameshwar N Hattarkar received 121 votes. 24 votes were declared void. Besides executive committee members several elite members arrived and voted. S B Ramanna, Sudhaker Maindan and Sadananda Ameen who were election officials announced the results in the evening.
Manohar M Kori was elected president, Dr Ishwar Alevoor vice president; Dr Bharathkumar Polipu, honorary secretary; Amaresh C Patel, honorary joint secretary; advocate M D Rao, honorary treasurer; Dinesh A Kamath, honorary joint treasurer; office bearers and executive committee members Dr S K Bhavani, Sudhaker Palan, Rajiv N Nayak, Lalita P Angadi, Omdas Kannangar, Dr Mamatha T Rao, Dr G P Kusuma, Durgappa Ellappa Kotyavar and Sushila S Devadiga.
