Panaji, Jun 11: The Goa police have floated a second tender in the span of last six months to set up cyber crime lab after the earlier tender failed to elicit even a single bid. The state police have a poor track record of solving cyber crimes hence is making another attempt to set up a cyber forensic lab cum training centre on turnkey basis.

A shocking 80% of all cyber crime cases reported in the state of Goa have remained unsolved due to shortage of cyber experts and required infrastructure.

In 2015 a total of 99 cases were registered out of which only 20 were detected while 10 have been chargesheeted and pending trial. The projected lab is expected to be set up under the Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children (CCPWC) scheme and will be of great help to the state police to solve many pending cases. July 3 is the last date of submission of the tender document and bids will be opened on July 6.
