Bhatkal, May 5: Addressing a press conference here in the afternoon of Monday May 4, Bhatkal Majlis-e-Islaha-va-Tanzeem has alleged, that the policemen themselves were behind the murder of advocate Naushad Kashimji on April 9 and that the people they have now been accusing of the crime are the fake ones put up by the policemen.
Giving this information, Tanzeem secretary and brother of Naushad Kashimji Parvez Kashimji, urged the government to hand over the investigation into the murder, to Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI). He informed that a huge dharna is being organized at 4.30 pm on May 8 at Bhatkal Anjuman High School ground and requested every citizen of the region to take part in the agitational programme.
Parvez informed, that the Tanzeem, in its executive meeting held in the morning of Monday, had resolved to continue to agitate till the case is handed over to CBI and its report is submitted. "The protests and dharnas will be held in all the districts of the state and several organizations including the Bar Associations and Bar Council will demand for CBI investigation into Kashimji's death, he explained. Saying that the murder of Naushad was not that of a lawyer but of justice itself, he sought to blame the government for appointing officers on whom the finger of suspicion has been raised, as investigating officers in the case. "The men arrested by the policemen are dummys. How could the policemen, who failed to get hold of the murderers of Dr Chittaranjan and Timmappa Naik from Bhatkal even after 13 years, could lay hands on the culprits in this case within eight days?" he asked. He said he is in possession of enough evidences to prove his allegations and that the same would be placed before the CBI. He requested citizens, organizations etc., to pressurize the state government to hand over the case to CBI for investigation.
Tanzeem general secretary S J Khalid, joint secretary Inayataulla Shabandri, lawyer Javed Batin, abdul Rabib M J and Tanzeem office bearers were present at the press conference.
