Beltangady, May 4: The taluk-level Chutuku Sahitya (limerick) Sammelan was held at Chutuku Brahma Dinakar Desai auditorium of Beltangady on Sunday May 3.
The event was organized by Chutuku Sahitya Parishat, Beltangady.
Speaking after participating as guest in the Sammelan, veteran novelist K T Gatti said, because of the past-paced life, there is a dearth of the readers who are inclined to read novels, essays, critical analysis etc. Studying of epics is out of question. Literature reflects ones life. Limericks provide a temporary respite to the minds overburdened with the fast life and inspire them to think differently. The opinions and viewpoints of a littérateur can be totally different from that of a reader, he pointed out.
Limerick always is born and nurtured in the minds of people who are like babies, free, innocent and instantly responsive. Rhythm, rhyme, logic and being meaningful are the features of the limericks, he said.
Dr M G R Aras, Sahitya Parishat central committee convener, inaugurated the event and released the work 'Damaru Ninada,' authored by Pavitra B Kutyar.
Presiding over the function, P Ramakrishna Shastri, litterateur addressed the gathering.
Ira Nemu Poojary, Ratna Halappa Gowda, Poovayya and K Jayaram Bangera were present on the occasion.
V G Nayak presided over the poet's meet held on the occasion.
