Panaji, Jun 7: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant held his first ‘janata darbar’ on Thursday in Assembly complex to address public grievance.  Sawant met over 120 people from across the state during the two hour meet. The current CM is following the footsteps of his predecessors Manohar Parrikar and Laxmikant Parsekar. It was Parrikar who had started the public hour which was taken forward by Parsekar. 

After meeting the public, Sawant said, “I got an idea of how the administration functions and now I have to streamline and tighten it.” The CM said that the government employees should not take the public for granted and that strict action will be taken against those not attending the public.

People have issues with the police department as they do not handle cases effectively. Panchayat, municipality and collectorate are others areas where the public have problems with,” Sawant added.  A delegation that had long pending issues with government employment and those terminated from the service were also there to meet the CM. 

Pramod Sawant was sworn in as the chief minister of Goa on March 19, immediately after which the model code of conduct was announced. “It was because the code of conduct was in force for last two months, that I was unable to hold janata darbar,” the CM added.
