Bantwal, Jun 7: The monthly meeting of taluk panchayat officials here was held in taluk panchayat’s SGSY auditorium on Thursday, June 6. Taluk panchayat president Chandrahas Karkera presided over the meeting.
The president asked officials to respond quickly to any issues faced by people in the upcoming monsoon. Taluk panchayat vice president Abbas Ali asked the officials to take part in monthly taluk level meetings and work towards solving the problems. He said that twelve roads, 28 school bridge projects and six PU college buildings have received approval and are in tender stage.
PWD engineer said that central prison work in Mudipu is in tender stage. PWD executive engineer Rajanna asked PWD officer to pay attention to road, drainage and other facilities for safety during the onset of monsoon.
Official of the department of food and civil supplies said that the work in the department gets interrupted due to server problem. Standing committee president Dhanalaxmi C Bangera asked CDPO department officials to give new appearance to Anganwadi buildings and to increase the intake of Anganwadi children.
Block education officer Shivaprakash said that it is better to join with government schools to retain Anganwadi centers due to the influence of English medium instruction. “It will be necessary to utilize Anganwadi funds properly and to provide English medium instruction through government school,” he said. Executive engineer Rajanna suggested to prepare a list of Anganwadi centers under repair, give up projects for their repair and construct new buildings instead.
“Repairs to Anganwadi centers with tiled roofs every year costs money. We have decided to construct new buildings in order to decrease spending on repairs every year,” he said.
He asked Mescom officials to work so that no complaints are received from gram panchayat. Officials from different departments took part in the meeting.
