Kundapur, Jun 2: As contractors have kept national highway works at Sangam junction half way, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje inspected the work and took the contracting company to task.
The MP who had arrived on requests from locals due to incomplete work and lack of drainage asked IRB companies to complete the work soon.
She telephoned IRB engineer Yogendrappa from the spot saying that the monsoon is starting and the roadside mud will flow to agricultural land in the absence of drainage. “Farmers will incur loss because of your irresponsibility. The problem should be solved immediately by constructing drainage,” she said. She also listened to the demands of local people.
“As there is a barrier at the entry at Chickensal road that joins Kundapur since the last several weeks, vehicle drivers from Tallur and Hemmadi have to drive to Shastri circle to enter the city. Therefore, the barrier wall should be removed for smooth flow of traffic,” requested the locals.
“A barrier is erected by the police departments with the help of contracting company to reduce accidents. I will get that removed after speaking to the police,” said the MP.
