Mangalore, Apr 28: Former Puttur MLA Shakunthala Shetty on Monday April 27 alleged that the Congress party’s pseudo secularism has now been adopted by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state.
The leaders of the Sangh Parivar are busy with caste politics all over the district.
Addressing press persons at the Press Club, she said, “The BJP has been campaigning that they have fielded a candidate belonging to the Bunt community for the first time in 37 years of history. The ruling party does not have enough courage to expel senior party member Urimajalu Ram Bhat who will contest in the parliamentary election as an independent candidate against the BJP.”
Shetty also said that the BJP was indulging in false propaganda against her and corporator Mariamma Thomas. “We are actively participating in the campaign in favour of Ram Bhat,” she stressed.
“There is no Hindutva at all in the BJP. The Congress government used to file false cases against the activists of Hindutva and they were beaten by the police. But Hindu workers such as Ananthu, Sukhananda, Prem, Dinesh, Santhu were murdered soon after the BJP come to power,” she alleged.
Corporator Mariamma Thomas and corporator Bhaskar were present.
