Mangalore, Apr 28: “Politicians do not hesitate to sell themselves for the sake of power. Seeing politicians lose their moral values indicates the bad state of politics,” said B V Kakkilaya, veteran politician, at a condolence meeting for B M Idinabba, writer and freedom fighter, who passed away recently.
The meeting was arranged by the Muslim Lekhakara Sangha at Hidayath Centre on Monday April 27. Idinabba passed away on Saturday April 11 at the age of 88.
“For the sake of power, politicians jump from one party to another without sparing a thought to moral or ethical values. But a personality like Idinabba, who was born to serve the people and lived with a strong ideology became a role model for all”, he said.
Kakkillaya reminisced on his association with Idinabba and said that he mingled with the people, understanding their problems and penning poems and articles that could be understood by the common man.
He said that the veteran politician was still a role model to the youth.
Sayeed Ismail, president, Muslim Lekhakara Sangha, M B Abdul Rahiman, president, Beary Sahitya Academy, Muhammad Kunhi, convener, Jamath-e-Islami Hind, youth wing, and B M Badruddin, son of Idinabba, were present.
