Vasco, Jun 1: Objecting the decision of starting a news rent-a-cab counter at Dabolim airport, The United Taximen Union on Friday said a rent-a-cab counter is not needed at the airport and they would use ‘Gandhigiri’ to protest at its inauguration.

As per TOI report, the taxi union president Eknath Palkar said “Drivers associated with such counters are usually the ones who misbehave with tourists, as is clearly seen in videos circulated on social media. We, on the other hand, have been in the taxi business for the past 40 years and have never received any complaints from tourists.”

Condemning the authority’s decision on inaugurating new counters at the airport without making sufficient parking lots, Union secretary Kavita Parab said “Our taxis don’t have space to park at the airport. Many are then illegally parked in the area around it.”
