Kundapur, Apr 26: The BJP government that has completely neglected fishing sector in the past ten months, is now pretending to be concerned about the problems of the fishermen, said Kumar Bangarappa, former minister, speaking at an election campaign meeting held at Byndoor on Friday.
The state government has failed to fulfill any of the demands of the fishermen in its budget. It has neglected the problems created by sea erosion and diverted crores of rupees to the temples and Mutts, he charged.
Speaking on the occasion, Pramod Madhwaraj said, the BJP government has pruned down the quantity of kerosene provided to the fishermen's family under the subsidy scheme and plans to do away with this facility in course of time.
Former MLA K Gopal Poojary, Byndoor and Congress leaders Raju Poojary, Raju Devadiga, Vasudev Yadiyal, Anant Movady, Vijaya Putran, Naga Kharvi, Alexander, N J Joseph and G Prabhakar Shetty were present on the occasion.
Later, Kumar Bangappa visited Maravante, Navunda, Kirimanjeshwar, Koderi, Uppunda and Shiroor villages to seek votes for his father and Congress candidate from Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency, S Bangarappa.
