Puttur, Apr 23: Pamphlets purported to have been issued by the naxals were found near the revenue department staff quarters located near Uppinangady bus stand and also Koppa, Jayapur and Nagalapur in Chikmagalur district on Wednesday April 22.
The policemen are investigating the possibility of the involvement of some miscreants out to play mischief, in connection with the incident. The pamphlets call for boycotting of the election, urging people to repulse the current administration that is not only cruel but also plunders peoples and exploits them.
It may be noted, that other than graffiti found on the walls of a house belonging to a villager named Chandrashekhar Gore in Hatyadka near Uppinangady two years ago, no naxal activities were reported from within the local police station jurisdiction so far. On that occasion, the naxals had also spoken to Gore's family.
Puttur assistant commissioner and assistant election officer for DK Lok Sabha constituency Dr K Harish Kumar has instructed the Uppinangady police to investigate into the episode and submit a report. In the meantime, the policemen have arrested a man named Shankarappa from Tanikodu village, in connection with the distribution of pamphlets in Koppa. The policemen claimed, he has confessed to having distributed the pamphlets.
