Mumbai, May 27: A fifth coach of a Kalyan-CSMT local train headed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus derailed between Vidyavihar and Kurla stations, thereby affecting suburban train services of the Central Railway (CR).
Before the derailment, sparks and flames were spotted coming out of a switch board in the lady's compartment around 7 pm when the train was approaching Vidyavihat on the slow track. After resolving the issue, the train left the station to proceed on its journey. However, one of the coaches derailed said a CR official.
Due to this, locals running on the slow track were shifted to the fast track, delaying several services, the official said.
