Mangalore: Cash Seizure in Bantwal Leads City Police to Increase Vigilance

Mangalore, Apr 22: “Unauthorized cash amounting to Rs 23 lac has been seized in Bantwal, but it is not confirmed who or which party it belongs to,” said M N Vidyashankar, Chief Electoral Officer of the state.  

He was speaking to media persons at the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office in the city and said that the money was seized while it was being transported in a car. He refused to give any further information on the matter stating that the investigation was on. 














“Whoever the money may belong to, strict action will be taken against the culprits and a case will be registered for violation of the code of conduct”, said Vidyashankar.  

It is suspected that the money was meant to be spent in an effort to entice voters as the elections approach.   

The money is now in the custody of Bantwal police. Following the incident, the police in the city are on high alert and have begun checking vehicles which are entering the city.  

Most of the vehicles are being checked at entry points like Nanthoor, Pumpwell, and Kottara.  

More details are awaited on the cash seizure.

    Dear Harrismadani, Bajpe M''''lore, may be this is another ''DRAMA'' the the govt. or the Cops!!! May be they are trying to create a confusion and misguide voters!! As you have mentioned it''s 5 minutes job for them to find out the car OWNER!!! Now, only GOD know how many NOTES from that bag will go MISSING while it''s in the Police Custody :)

    Mr.Vidyashankar how do you say that "but it is not confirmed who or which party it belongs to” if you see the picture in that the siezed car having a clear registration number plate on that, thru that cops can find easily money belongs to which party, only that you don''t want to disclose, at the end where these money goes after??? it''z sure that not in the government treasury...

    I want to join that party and make money. Tired of working hard and paying taxes. I want to join politics and make easy money. It does''nt matter what I do, people in India will still elect me. I dont have to worry even if I loose elections they still think I''m their hero and saviour.
